Open Photos → Collections → Utilities → Recently Deleted. Unlock the album, select the pictures, and choose Recover. Photos normally keeps deleted items for up to 30 days. Octoshield cannot restore pictures permanently deleted by iOS.
Check Recently Deleted first
A deleted picture is not always gone immediately. Apple normally keeps it in Recently Deleted for up to 30 days. This is also where photos removed through Octoshield’s confirmed library deletion normally go.
The album location can vary by iOS version. On current layouts, open Collections and find Utilities. Authentication protects Recently Deleted by default on supported versions.
- Open Photos and locate Recently Deleted under Utilities.
- Authenticate when asked.
- Select the pictures you want back and choose Recover.
- Confirm recovery and check the restored pictures in your library.
If the picture is not there
Check Hidden if the image was hidden rather than deleted. Confirm you are viewing the right personal or shared library and Apple Account. An independently saved export, message attachment, or backup may also help.
iCloud Photos syncs library deletions to other devices. A second device using the same library is not necessarily a backup. Once a picture is permanently removed from Recently Deleted, this flow cannot restore it.
Vault deletion has different rules
A completed Octoshield import is independent of the original. If the original was deleted but the vault copy remains, open the vault and check it. Export it when needed, remembering that the exported file leaves the vault’s protection.
Deleting from the vault is permanent in the current app. There is no vault trash, cloud backup, or server restore. Forgetting the secret, uninstalling, or losing the device can also mean losing access. Maintain an independent plan for irreplaceable files.
